As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death.
Leonardo da Vinci
I am the type of person who has never had respect for sleep but that is probablybecause I always sleep well. However many of my acquaintances suffer what they think is insomnia but really, in most cases their problem sleeping is more likely due to lack of preparation for sleep rather than an inability to sleep.
Most folks take the elemental gifts of life for granted, they think that because we are born healthy, breath naturally, sleep naturally and make love naturally to mention just a few things we don’t need to be taught to do that they can’t improve on their technique.
If that were the case the Romeo & Juliet would never have been written, Yoga and meditation would not have been invented and why do we bother to build hospitals?
The truth is that sleep is a journey and like the whole journey you take you require to prepare before hand so that you get to your planned destination in the best possible physical & mental state. If you suffer from sleeplessness do not just accept it – do something practical about it.
I read an article on A Good Night Drink which listed 10 Tips to Help You Get a Good Night’s Sleep. I think they area pragmatic place to start if you really want to do something about your problem.
Here is an excerpt but if you would like to read the whole article go to 10 Tips to Help You Get a Good Night’s Sleep.
I have only printed a very small excerpt so I recommend you read the whole article if you are suffering from lack of sleep.

Drink green tea.
Green tea has been known in the east for centuries to encourage relaxation by releasing certain chemicals in the brain which have a calming effect.
